Abstract 

A 24-year-old woman with acute optic neuritis is presented. Appropriate management and treatment of this case using the Optic Neuritis Treatment Trial guidelines and an evaluation of the cost involved is discussed. (Surv Ophthalmol 42:373–377, 1998.
