Principles and Practice of Ophthalmology,

edited by Daniel M. Albert, Frederick A. Jakobiec, Dimitri T. Azar, and Evangelos S. Gragoudas, Philadelphia, W. B. Saunders Company, 2000, 2nd ed., 5583 pages in 6 volumes, illus. Price: $950
This is a six volume, 5,583-page update of the award winning 1994 First Edition. It is a magnificent encyclopedic work, which I thoroughly enjoyed perusing. The editors, and especially the 32 section editors, deserve our thanks for the evident careful hard work put into this Second Edition. The several hundred individual authors represent many of the all-stars of American ophthalmology, and must in themselves be a significant percentage of academic ophthalmology.
